These young lads have been gracing my headphones of late with their delightful tune ‘Into The Night’.

When I listen to this it feels like they are playing a party in my ears and only I am invited, but soon they will be playing at The Buffalo bar in London (on 21st February to be precise) and that will be an actual party where lots of people are invited. I love Ireland, my grandad was Irish therefore I am a quarter Irish. I also work with a lot of Irish people. One particular person from the emerald isle who is impressing at the moment is Soak.

Soak is a young singer-songwriter from Derry, Northern Ireland, just supported Villagers and has some great tunes, check out ‘Wash Up’ below:

Yet again, I have been shit at updating ye olde blog. This guy is cool though, don’t be fooled by the 60 year old chain smoker voice, he is in fact a young one, 18 if I’m not mistaken.

Anyway, I think Columbia snapped him up (I should really fact check this) so I’m sure he will be assaulting your stereos soon.

Menace Beach are basically a super group up there with the likes of Cream. With representatives from all the best Fuzz bands around including Hookworms, Sky Larkin and You Animals involved in the EP.

You would have to be truly insane not to check it out. This delightful 4-track is coming out on a ltd cassette in mid November. However due to the magic of technology you can stream it RIGHT NOW on their SoundCloud or if you are too lazy to click the link don’t worry because it is right below this text, look, see it there?!?

Convenience, everybody loves convenience. You don’t want to a read a paragraph of me droning on about why you should love every band I post, do you? You make your own decisions right? You don’t need me telling you why you should like music, if you like it you will actively seek it out won’t you?

Well for a while I’m going to go with the short snappy post approach, it will allow me to get more music to you and if you like it you can use the magic of Google to find all the info that is out there on the world wide web. Alternatively if you really do want more info, drop me an email or interact with me on social networks, I’m surprisingly easy to find or you may just find me most nights propping up a bar in some dark hole in Essex or London.

I saw Temples last month in London, being a fan of early garage and UK Psych and already loving the songs on their SoundCloud, I made my way down and I was not disappointed.

It’s early days for these guys but they have already notched up some good support slots around London and are due to head out on the road with Mystery Jets at the end of the year.

A little bit of a news story for you all now I got from my good friends at The Mercury Prize…

The Barclaycard Mercury Prize ‘Albums of the Year Live’ gig series continues on Wednesday 24 October with special performances from joint headliners The Maccabees, Michael Kiwanuka and Alt-J. The shortlisted artists will be playing the event at LSO St Luke’s in London to help raise money for War Child, supporting the fantastic work they do assisting children affected by conflict around the world.

The Prize will be making tickets for the event available to fans through competitions and a special ballot system developed in association with Barclaycard Unwind and their partner The Ticket Factory. The ballot will be open for 48 hours from 10am on Monday 15 October. Entry to the gig will be free, although a donation of £10 will need to be made to War Child in order to secure each pair of tickets. Barclaycard will be matching all donations made using a Barclaycard. Fans can apply for tickets at:

Fans who are not able to attend the gig will still be able to catch tracks and interviews on television as part of Channel 4’s coverage of this year’s Prize. Each artist will be the subject of a dedicated programme broadcast on Wednesday 31 October ahead of the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show, which will take place on Thursday 1 November.
